Writing Submissions:

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES CAREFULLY BEFORE SENDING YOUR WORK

Guidelines:

  • Writers must be residents in the Bow Valley or produce work inspired or relevant to the mission of Oesa Magazine.

  • We accept simultaneous submissions—just please send us a note if your work is picked up elsewhere.

  • We accept any genre of writing for both prose and poetry, but we prefer, and privilege, mountaineering, nature, or travel literature.

  • Please only submit original, unpublished work.

  • For prose, please submit only one piece per submission period. The piece should not exceed 5000 words. There is no limit on how short a story can be.

  • For poetry, please submit up to three pieces per submission period. There is no word limit (go wild!).

  • Make sure to include your full name and email address at the top of each submission, and a short biography in the last page of your submission. 

  • For every file you submit, you must name the file as your work title followed by your last name. Example: Harry Potter-Rowling. 

  • Please do not send a follow-up email, our team will contact you within two weeks regarding our decision.

Author's Rights:

Oesa holds first publication rights for six months after publication. Authors agree not to publish, nor authorize or permit the publication of, any part of the material for six months following first publication. For reprints we ask for acknowledgement of its publication in Oesa Magazine first.

How to submit:

  • To submit your work, send an email to Oesamagazine@gmail.com. Write the email subject as WRITING SUBMISSIONIn the email body, please include your full name, email, current address, and a short cover letter about your work. If you have a personal website where you showcase or sell your art, you may include it in the email and we can attach it to your work on our website.
